Amy Wagenfeld, PhD, OTR/L, FAOTA

Amy Wagenfeld, PhD, OTR/L, SCEM, FAOTA, is an occupational therapist, therapeutic design consultant, educator, researcher, author, and affiliate associate professor in University of Washington’s Department of Landscape Architecture and Principal of Amy Wagenfeld | Design. She is a Fellow of the American Occupational Therapy Association, holds specialty certification in environmental modifications through the AOTA, and certification in Healthcare Garden Design through the Chicago Botanical Garden. 

Amy publishes and presents widely and co-authored Therapeutic Gardens: Design for Healing Spaces second edition 2^nd edition (Routledge) in 2026, and in 2023, Nature-Based Strategies for Allied Health Practitioners (Jessica Kingsley Publishers), and The Nature of Inclusive Play (Routledge). Co-written with Daniel Winterbottom, Sensory Gardens: Designing for Healing, Joy, and Exploration (Island Press Imprint of Princeton University Press) will publish in Spring 2027.
